The beach of the old harbor
The beach of the Old Port of Biarritz is undoubtedly one of the smallest beaches in the city, however, it is quite deep especially in the early evening when the sea rises. Its paces are beautifully haunting, the beach of the Old Port is oval further down...
It is also encircled by gallery ... You would think that you were in Italy! There was a time when we could afford baths in a facility dedicated to this purpose. The view from the beach is simply spectacular having as a decorative background the rock of the Virgin.
The regular visitors of Biarritz adore to have a good time at the edge of the beach of the Old Port. In addition to being a dream spot, the site is carefully protected and monitored especially during the summer months from mid-June to the end of September. In order to respect the environment and maintain an optimal well-being of the places, the zone has become non-smoking since 2015.
The Old Port beach is among other things protected from winds and strong waves ... An essential point for families with children. How to reach the beach? Just take the path that leads to the Place of the Old Port by taking the stairs found next door. There is also parking, paying only 50 places.
During high season, it is more appropriate to store your car at the car park Sainte Eugénie or to be escorted by the private shuttle that goes directly to the beach (free transport). The surrounding areas of the Old Port beach are decorated by several bars and restaurants that are available for you to feast on good typical dishes.
With its 70 m wide, the spot can only accommodate a small number of visitors. It is therefore advisable to leave a little earlier to get a suitable place and make the most the clear water and golden sand of this most pleasant beach in the Basque Country.
